Picard’s second season ends with a peculiar Q in “Farewell,” and the first two episodes of Strange New Worlds are definitely bringing back a certain feel in Trek. This week, something a little different.
Picard and Guinan must talk their way out of FBI custody while Seven and Raffi pursue the escaped nascent Borg Queen. Rios continues to romance Teresa, and Q comes sort of clean. This week: “Mercy.”
While comatose, Jean-Luc Picard must face his demons, including the ghost of his father. He discovers that not everything is as he believed it to be, and having done that, he reconnects with an old friend. This week: “Monsters.”
Picard and company, having infiltrated the astronaut gala, must now find and protect Renee Picard, even from herself. However, Q has other ideas and deploys Dr. Adam Soong. Kore Soong makes some disturbing discoveries, and Picard meets the business end of a vehicle. This week: “Two of One.”
In the previous two episodes of Picard, we’ve met some old friends, made some new friends with familiar faces, and seen Q start to struggle. Meanwhile, the Borg Queen clearly has a plan, and Rios just needs a jailbreak. This week: “Watcher” and “Fly Me to the Moon.”
As destruction looms large for Earth and Ni’Var, the Discovery’s mission has become all the more critical. However, Tarka’s machinations could jeopardize everything Burnham and her crew have done, dooming the Alpha Quadrant in the process. This week: “Coming Home.”

In episodes two and three of Picard, the eponymous captain and his crew confront the aftermath of the Stargazer’s destruction and Q’s manipulation of the timeline. In order to repair the error that results in the authoritarian Confederation, Picard et al must travel back to 2024 at the behest of the last Borg Queen to find a watcher who can help them “shatter to mend.” This week: “Penance” and “Assimilation.”
As a rule, Michael Blaker avoids controversy, but the negative goings on at Activision over the past year have forced him to comment. Hopefully the merger with Microsoft will help to clear up some of the bad behavior.
