Everyone loves the Pathfinder Tales novels, being as close to a pen and paper or videogame role-playing experience as you can get. Here is our second take look at a good one, Pathfinder Tales: Through the Gate in the Sea.
Book Review- Star Trek: Prey: Book 2: The Jackal’s Trick
Star Trek: The Jackal’s Trick is so engrossing that it’s hard to put down. Especially for Trek fans, this one has got it all, angry Klingons, Picard at the helm of the Enterprise, Riker and his wife Dianna Troi plus Worf and Geordie La Forge.
The World Walker perfectly blends sci-fi and fantasy in a tale about the birth of magic in our world. Considering few books mix that so seamlessly, it makes for a great read despite a few overused clichés.
Book Review- Pathfinder Tales: Through the Gate in the Sea
In Pathfinder Tales: Through the Gate in the Sea, readers are treated to a sea tale, inter-dimensional travel, a complex commentary on imperialism and a good old fashioned abandoned ancient city.
Book Review- Star Trek: The Next Generation: Headlong Flight
Captain Picard and the Enterprise-E are in for some dimensional shifting in the riveting Star Trek: The Next Generation: Headlong Flight novel. This is classic sci-fi with Star Trek Next Generation action and storytelling at its best.
Filled with political intrigue and deep dialog, Treachery’s Tools is a fine read for those who prefer a more cerebral fantasy story. It’s also the tenth book in the series, so you may want to go back and read the originals to get full enjoyment here.
Star Trek: Prey: Book 1: Hell’s Heart begins a Star Trek Next generation trilogy. It’s action-packed and has a great story, making it a must read for Star Trek fans, particularly those partial to Klingons.
Desdaemona is the first entry in a new urban fantasy series. It offers an interesting environment and some scary scenes, but hasn’t yet found a way to break out of an increasingly crowded genre. Then again, perhaps it’s just getting started.
HALO: Smoke and Shadow is not so much a typical HALO novel as a fast paced, nova hot novella. Instead of looking at soldiers, this tale is all about interstellar salvagers who go into war zones looking for profit.
Dark Shadows: Heiress of Collinwood by Lara Parker is a fun novel that follows the cult-hit TV show from about 40 years ago. Told here with a bit of a modern twist, the tale should prove enjoyable for campy chills and thrills.
