When I saw this game displayed at E3. I knew this was a game where if the demo proved to be as good as the final version, I was going to enjoy this game. And I was not disappointed! The only real problem with this game is that if falls into the flooded ground combat real time strategy genre. Earth 2150 has some unique aspects that may help it rise above the pack, if people start to take notice. Obviously, the game is set in 2150. The Eurasian Dynasty (ED) used their stockpile of nuclear weapons to attack some United … Continue reading Earth 2150 is Ahead of its Time→

I can’t decide if this game is outstanding or infuriating. Perhaps it is both. Dogs of War, published under the Talonsoft label but developed by Silicon Dreams, is a real-time strategy game in the mold of Microprose’s MechCommander. It features three different armies battling for control of Primus: The Mantai, an indigenous dinosaur-like race, the War Monkeys, a human mercenary group in the employ of the planetary government, and the Imperials, representing the military might of humanity as a whole. The game has a number of things going for it. The most apparent is the versatility of the camera, which … Continue reading Dogs of War is No Litter Runt→

Majesty is a solid realtime strategy [RTS] game wrapped in the cloak of a simulation. I’m not really sure why Cyberlore decided to call their game a simulation, because other than sort of designing the overall look of your medieval village, the game is focused on warfare. I approached this game as if it were a RTS game, and I think most consumers should do so as well if they want to be happy with their purchase. This is not SimCity, but oddly enough it’s not Command and Conquer either. Majesty is a refreshing twist on the somewhat overdone RTS … Continue reading Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim→
This is a real time strategy game at sea. You are a Corsair representing either France or England and there are four tutorials designed to give the player some hands on experience and instruction simultaneously. It is more like a naval version of WarCraft than anything else. The player is responsible for completing each assigned mission, and this is no easy task. It is a lot of fun, but very linear in a way that the classic Pirates was not. While completing each mission you may also engage in trade, combat, whatever you deem necessary to complete the mission while … Continue reading Corsairs: Conquest at Sea sails to your heart→

Star Wars: Force Commander puts you in charge of ground level operations of the Empire. Long have Star Wars fans played the many flight and space simulations set in the most popular sci-fi universe ever created. But while the flyboys and a few jedi knights have thus far gotten all the gaming glory, lets not forget that the Empire was built on the backs of those white clad, lightly armored front line stormtrooper grunts. This is the game where they get to shine. Loading up the game at first was quite daunting. I was expecting an interface more like Bungie … Continue reading Star Wars: Force Commander demands respect→
