Save State columnist Vincent Mahoney has been playing and running Dungeons and Dragons games for years. So, when he’s given an advanced sandbox like Baldur’s Gate 3, which allows players to do almost anything within that world, it’s time to stand back and watch the magic happen.
After sitting in Early Access for over three years, Baldur’s Gate 3 has finally launched, and is an incredibly impressive game. This polished gem is easily one of the best and most detailed RPGs ever made, offering hundreds of hours of quality Dungeons and Dragons-based adventuring.
Not wanting to make their players wait, Larian Studios released a shortened version of their new Dungeons and Dragons based Baldur’s Gate 3 game in early access. And while there is limited content at the moment, the game already feels like a brewing epic masterpiece.
Baldur’s Gate 3 launched on October 6 on Stadia, Steam, GOG.com and Mac. During the release, Larian faced a flood and one blackout (which is not unusual for a Larian launch). At 10 a.m. PT, many players were unable to buy the game as they stormed the Steam page. So many players signed up to the optional Larian launcher that its servers had trouble keeping up. But the launch was ultimately a huge success, surpassing all studio expectations, and the game heads into a lengthy early access campaign with an engaged audience providing a solid flow of feedback and reports. … Continue reading Larian Creates Heat Map of Player Deaths for Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access→

One can certainly see that Larian Studios, and especially their CEO Swen Vincke, is serious about making Baldur’s Gate 3 the best game they can. The following video shows how they supposedly convinced Wizards of the Coast to finally grant them the rights to Dungeons and Dragons so they could make Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s a harrowing tale of knights, vampire swords, abductions and the horrifying effects of ceremorphosis. And, we hope, none of it is true. Though even if it is, we are okay with that if it means a wonderful new Baldur’s Gate game. Publishers: Wizards of the … Continue reading Funny Video: How Larian Got D&D Rights for Baldur’s Gate 3→
