The original Super Mario RPG on the Super Nintendo was a favorite of GiN Reviewer Vincent Mahoney. Now he takes the remake for a spin to see if it can capture some of that old fashion RPG magic in a modern format for the Nintendo Switch console.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the first traditional side-scrolling Super Mario title since 2012 and features the return of Nintendo-crafted 2D levels. It is also the fastest selling Super Mario game having sold 4.3 million units in its first two weeks for the Nintendo Switch.

Modern Gamer Melissa is off on a holiday road trip this week, keeping safe from COVID-19 as she goes of course. Before she left, she picked up the ultimate road trip plaything, a Nintendo Switch Lite. She reviews it this week, playing with Mario and friends from the road.

Not only is this being put out in limited release to artificially inflate interest, but used copies are being sold for hundreds of dollars. Come on Nintendo. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a perfect and relaxing game for our troubled times. It’s also one of those titles that makes it worth owning a Nintendo Switch just to play. It should be held up in the same way as Mario, Zelda and Super Smash Bros as a true classic that is accessible to everyone.
We all want to get and play the latest and greatest hits in gaming this holiday, but don’t overlook the possibility of snagging some great titles that are either still being actively developed, or perhaps a little older, and as such are being offered for some amazing holiday prices.
