New Year’s Resolution 2015 Bonus Round!
Mega Man Series
My friend Trevor and I decided to play through the entire Mega Man series in 2015. We’d both beat some and not others and figured it would be a fun way to play through the series. It wasn’t really a New Year’s Resolution per se, but we did want to complete Mega Man 1 through 10 before the end of the year. I actually bought Mega Man 10 just for this run and I personally found it to be the hardest in the series. We completed our goal with a couple of months to spare and very sporadic times of getting together to play.
Mega Man X Series
When we beat the Classic Mega Man series, Trevor and I decided that it only made sense to jump right into the X series. Our goal here was to beat Mega Man X to X6 in the last couple of months of 2015. We failed. We made it through X and X5, but didn’t even get to start X6 before running out of time. Sucks because neither of us have beaten it in the past. Also, we excluded X7 because it sucks and X8 because neither of us own a copy of it.
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
I burned through most of my handheld games early in the year and it left me with little to play when out and about. So I busted out this classic that I’ve never beat before. The funny thing about it is that I ended up beating the game on Halloween. I’d like to say I planned it that way, but I didn’t. I just really wanted to play something different after Metroid Prime 3. I’d already started the game a couple of days prior and put a lot of time into it while at a scary movie night get together with Alia’s family the day before and I just happened to finish it at this time.
So there we go. New Year’s Resolution complete! Here’s wishing all you gamers out there good luck and much progress when it comes to clearing out your own backlogs.
While I really enjoyed this last year of gaming, I won’t be making a New Year’s Resolution for 2016. I’ll still be beating games from my backlog, but I won’t have any goals set in mind while doing it.
You must be the only person who prefers Desmond to Ezio! That’s bewildering, but horses for courses. Still, I’m impressed by your dedication to the resolution. Hats off to you.
Thanks, Chella. I know I’m a bit weird for preferring Desmond. I guess with that in mind I might really enjoy Watch Dogs. Even if it wasn’t well received.
Wow, you sure played a ton of games! I’d like to make a recommendation for you. Give Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition a try. I’m also a big JRPG fan & although this game wasn’t made in Japan, I think it will appeal to you. It’s become my all time favorite game.
Whatever you play in 2016, enjoy!! :)
I’ve heard a lot of good things about it, but I can honestly say I’ve never actually given it a look. I’ll have to do that now with a recommendation like that from a fellow JRPG lover.
Hope you have a wonderful time gaming in 2016 as well!
Thanks! Looking forward to reading a write-up on your time with it!
