This week for Bookish Wednesday I’m covering the sequel to AlterWorld! It’s The Clan by D. Rus!

Plot Synopsis: Once a seasoned gamer, Max has cheated fate swapping his dying body for an immortal avatar in the world of sword and sorcery MMORPGs. He joins the ranks of a new race of people: perma players, forever stuck in the virtual castles and cities of AlterWorld. Now they have to obey the ever-changing rules of their new home while learning to live together in peace, love and justice.

Plot: The plot is intense, which after the cliffhanger ending at the end of Book 01 is understandable. We get to see Max kick lots of ass and become one of the bigshots in the world, all the while he’s really just trying to have fun and is constantly being used by one person or another. I enjoyed this entry immensely.

Characters: We get to meet a few new people this entry, a few favorites of mine are Xena and Widowmaker, a couple of mercenaries. However AI 311 is probably my favorite of everyone still. As for why, well I won’t spoil why.

Overall: An excellent sequel, and it really raises the stakes for everything to come.
