This week for Light Novel Thursday, I’m talking about a series I just started reading and enjoyed immensely. It’s Only Sense Online by Aloha Zachou.
Plot Synopsis: Yun is a novice MMO player who equipped only unpopular skills labelled as garbage. However, soon after everyone started to notice the “Strongest” play style which made full use of Support Magic and Items?!
Plot: The plot is a bit like Legendary Moonlight Sculptor meets Half Prince which is awesome, because I love both of those series. However instead of a girl for a main character becoming a male in the game, it’s the other way around, with a guy becoming a girl. The reason for it is actually fairly hilarious. That said it’s a lot less comedic than Half Prince was, and more like LMS.
Characters: Shun, who is Yun in OSO because he mistyped his name (Japanese has a funny system where they combine certain kana to make a different sound, so Shun is technically spelled Shi-Yu-n and he forgot to add the Shi part). The rest of the cast is pretty cool and I really enjoy how Yun is focused on making the best out of his crappy playstyle and turns it into an amazing style. In fact I’d probably play like Yun does.
Art: The art is great, and while it’s not as vibrant as No Game No Life, it is more distinct than the earlier volumes of Sword Art Online.
Overall: If you want to read a good series concerning a gamer for the main character you should read this series.
For those who like: Fantasy, MMOs, Gaming in general, Gender benders, Great Plot, Amazing Characters, Excellent artwork.
Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above, although I can’t believe you’d hate all that and still be reading my posts!
Where do you find this translated like the images shown in this review? I have been trying to find somewhere to buy or read this for like an hour online, and I can’t find it anywhere. Only the raws version.
http://krytykal.org/only-sense/ is the place to check out.
I was hoping for some yuri after seeing that top-right image. Oh well.
Thanks for the summery.
I tend not to cover stuff that strays into the real H-scenes, but I do occasionally. That being said you really ought to read this series.
