Hey all, I’m back with another Anime Sunday with this week being a look at one of this past Spring season’s shows. It’s my “Gods’ Games We Play” Episode One Impressions.

Plot: The plot of this anime is fairly interesting. It’s a bit like “No Game No Life” in that it’s all about the characters playing any matter of games in often ridiculous ways, and how they overcome the rules in unique ways. Given that they play against actual gods, most of humanity is sorely outmatched. Honestly, this first episode is really an introduction to the two main characters Fay and Leoleshea. Fay is an as of yet undefeated human whose main goal is to find his long-lost sister, and Leoleshea is a fallen goddess who wants to ascend once more to take her place amongst the gods. Now they have to complete a flawless 10-win streak in order to achieve their goals.

Characters: Fay is an interesting main character, but Leoleshea is the real standout in this first episode. But given we don’t get to meet many other characters than the two of them in this first episode, it’s not exactly a large pool to choose from.

Art: The art is pretty great and is done by the studio Liden Films, but it’s not nearly ufotable quality in my eyes.

Music: The music of this first episode was okay but not particularly noteworthy.

Overall: A pretty great first episode, but it wasn’t exactly the most intriguing story either.

For those who like: Puzzles, Games, Fantasy, Action, Good Artwork, and a Decent Plot.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
