Hey all, I’m back with another Anime Sunday with this week being a look at one of the previous season’s new shows. It’s my “Re:Monster” Episode One Impressions.

Plot: This is a series that was one of the very first web novels I ever read, and I honestly never thought it’d get an anime adaptation because of how dark the series was. It might have been better off never being adapted though as the plot of this first episode was highly off-putting. The story starts off with the main character being stabbed to death and only gets worse from there. Honestly, I didn’t enjoy this at all, as my tastes in reading and viewing materials have drastically changed since I first read the web novel well over a decade ago.

Characters: Gobrou is the main character and he’s decent, but the entire plot of this first episode was really off-putting. The rest of the characters didn’t help either.

Art: And the animation didn’t help me think this series was worth animating either, as it’s been animated by the infamous Studio Deen, whose animation is notoriously bad. And that holds particularly true with this adaptation of this series. This first episode really highlighted yet again why Studio Deen is a lower quality animation studio in my eyes.

Music: The music is bland and not particularly worth remembering.

Overall: I’d steer clear of this adaptation. From the plot to the art and music, it’s just not that high quality. But if you like dark fantasy, Re:Monster might just interest you.

For those who like: Fantasy, Isekai, and Dark Plots.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above or incredibly bad animation.
