Hey all, I’m back with another LitRPG for this week’s Bookish Wednesday. It’s “Blade’s Rest Book 02” by Tom Watts.

Plot: The second book of the series starts with the main characters of Josh and his friends on a road trip that they can now somehow afford with their minimal salaries when they were all strapped for cash before. If that makes as little sense to you as it did me, well at least I won’t be alone in thinking that there were some serious plot holes being dug.

Somehow Josh ends up playing Pac Man in some town while making his friends wait for him. And then he goes back home and returns to building up Blade’s Rest, the town he was hired to work on in the hit VRMMORPG called Blade and Sheath from the first book. I quickly grew tired of both the main character and the rest of the story. It’s too slow paced. I decided to not even bother reading the third book in the series because I had just had it with the characters, their utter useless nonsense, or anything else to do with them.

Characters: I honestly don’t even remember the newcomers to the story, but even dealing with the main characters I just didn’t enjoy trying to connect with them as a reader.

Overall: You probably want to steer clear of this series. It might be a low stakes story, but that’s only because the characters are blander than a piece of cardboard.
