Hey all, I’m back with a rather fun one for this week’s Movie Monday. It’s Big Fish!
Plot: The plot of this story takes place in modern day where Edward, an older man, tells the story at his son Will’s wedding party of how he caught a massive fish the day Will was born. Being a very tall tale – and boy was that just a riot to write down here – and having gotten used to such tales all his life, Will has a falling out with his father. Time skips 3 years into the future, and Edward is dying of cancer. Will is reconciling with him in his father’s last days. Honestly, the movie is pretty great, and it’s pretty emotional. If it got me to write that much about it, the movie’s emotional moments would probably have that effect on a lot of other viewers too.
Casting: Ewan McGregor is our younger Edward, and he does a great job. Billy Crudup is Will, and there’s plenty of other top-tier actors that take part in this movie. Honestly, the entire cast is amazing in Big Fish.
Cinematography: The cinematography is amazing, and it takes the tall tales and really brings them to life.
Music: The music fits the story perfectly. Honestly, I can’t really complain about anything in it.
Overall: An awesome movie, and many viewers would likely be affected at least once by the film’s emotional moments over the course of watching it.
For those who like: Drama, Family Friendly, Tall Tales, and Emotional Movies.
Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
