Hey all, I’m back with another action-comedy film for this week’s Movie Monday. It’s the 2004 movie Starsky and Hutch.

Plot: The plot of the movie, which was a 2004 remake of a 1970s television series, is pretty lackluster. But I honestly wasn’t watching it because of the plot, which may be surprising to some readers since I’m almost always starting with the story or the plot of something that I am writing about.

Casting: No, the reason I first watched this film was because two of my favorite actors, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, played the lead characters Starsky and Hutch respectively. As expected, they really made the film. That said, the plot and script really did drag down their performance.

Some of the other cast members included Snoop Dogg, Juliette Lewis, Jason Bateman, Amy Smart, Fred Williamson, Vince Vaughn, Carmen Electra, and Chris Penn. Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul, the original actors who played Starsky and Hutch in the 1970s television series, were also in the movie.

Cinematography: The film work is nothing to write home about, but it absolutely captures the feel of a 1970’s era cop show.

Music: The music also fits the 1970’s cop theme.

Overall: A fun film, which was pretty much its goal.

For those who like: Cop films/shows, action, drama, comedy, and a great cast.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above or a relatively mediocre plot.
