Hey all, I’m back with a rather recent film for this week’s Movie Monday. It’s The Adam Project, which was a Netflix-exclusive title just like Heart of Stone that we covered a few weeks ago.

Plot: The plot revolves around a man named Adam Reed, played by Ryan Reynolds. He’s trying to escape the dystopian future of 2050 by traveling back to the past to rescue his dead wife who was assassinated by a woman named Sorian, an old family friend who runs the world as the CEO of the most powerful company. Unfortunately, he crashes in 2022 and meets his 12-year-old self, who’s been suspended from school and is grieving the loss of his father from the year before. The plot as a whole isn’t terribly original. But honestly, it’s still good enough that I had a fun time watching it.

Casting: As mentioned before Ryan Reynolds plays Adam Reed. The rest of the cast is rather star studded with names like Mark Ruffalo as Louis Reed (Adam’s father, who invented the ability to time travel) and Jennifer Garner as Adam’s mother Ellie Reed. This is also a breakout film for Walker Scobell, the child actor who plays the younger Adam.

Cinematography: The special effects of this film are pretty outstanding. And while they are not the best of the best I’ve ever seen, they were still pretty amazing.

Music: The musical score isn’t bad and really fits the action comedy pretty well.

Overall: A fun sci-fi action and comedy film that really hits it out of the park with the strength of its cast.

For those who like: Sci-Fi, Time Travel, Action, Drama, Comedy, Great Cast, and Excellent Cinematography.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
