Hey all, I’m back with another truly classic film for this week’s Movie Monday. It’s The Sting.
Plot: This is probably the pinnacle caper movie that all other films like Ocean’s Eleven aspire to be like. So, while I won’t spoil all the twists and turns, I will say that the plot is excellent.
Casting: The cast is full of some serious stars of the era, like Paul Newman as Henry Gondorff and Robert Redford as Johnny Hooker, among many others.
Cinematography: While special effects weren’t really the focus here, the film work was excellent nonetheless and this still remains a classic movie for a good reason even with all the advances filming has had since the release of this film. The Sting may have released in 1973, but it still holds up today in almost every way.
Music: I honestly don’t remember much of the music, but it fit the feel of this film set in the 30’s pretty well.
Overall: An amazing movie and a must-see classic.
For those who like: Capers, Action, Drama, Amazing Plot, Great Cast, and Excellent Film Work.
Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
