Hey all, I’m back with a futuristic racing simulation that was pretty huge on the Nintendo 64 from back in the day for this week’s Retro Game Friday. It’s Extreme-G.

Gameplay: The gameplay is pretty standard for racing games, though it’s more in the line of Mario Kart featuring various power ups to either help yourself or to distract and hamper your opponents rather than simply trying to outrace them. However, the tracks set in futuristic environments are all based around the extremely fast speed of the player’s vehicles, which are plasma powered motorcycles. It was honestly a lot of fun if you could handle the high-speed nature of the Extreme-G.

Artwork: Sadly, the art hasn’t aged particularly well. It’s not terrible, but it’s not great.

Music: It was certainly fitting with the fast-paced nature of Extreme-G.

Overall: A very fun racing simulation. Honestly, it’s a pity that such titles aren’t as popular nowadays.

For those who like: Racing and high speeds.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
