Hey all, I’m back with the second game from the Extreme-G series that was released for the Nintendo 64 and Windows back in the late 90’s for this week’s Retro Game Friday. It’s Extreme-G 2.

Gameplay: The gameplay wasn’t much different at first glance from Extreme-G, though it was better in Extreme-G2.  It had players racing with futuristic plasma powered bikes. It still wasn’t as good as Wipeout or F-Zero in my opinion. Still, for an extremely fast racing game you would be hard pressed to find many other alternatives. It was fun and unlike Wipeout or F-Zero, it had much more combat in its gameplay.

Art: The art has aged poorly since the release, but it was fairly good at the time. It was not the best but good.

Music: I don’t remember much of the music, but it was very sci-fi and fit Extreme-G2.

Overall: A decent extreme speed racing game but not the best of its time. Still, it might be fun to play if you can still find a copy. You can also pick up a remake of Extreme-G 2 on Steam for about $5, which is not bad if you need a retro fix.
