Hey all, I’m back with a game from back in the 80s for this week’s Retro Game Friday. It’s Spelunker.

Gameplay: The gameplay is simple. Players are charged with getting down to the bottom of a series of caves to reach the treasure. It’s not that complicated of a goal, although you are hindered by things like bats and a ghost, all while racing against your dwindling air supply.

It was one of the first platformers. And believe it or not, Spelunker was remade in HD for the PlayStation 4, giving it a chance to shine a bit in the modern era.

Art: The art from the original version of Spelunker isn’t great even though it’s pixel art.

Overall: A rather old school title and one of the first platformers.

For those who like: Platformers.

Not for those who don’t like: Platformers.
