Hey all, I’m back with a Nintendo 64 game from back in the 90s for this week’s Retro Game Friday. It’s Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls.
Gameplay: The gameplay in Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls is not at all standard for a racing game, which made it pretty unique at the time.
The races all take place on towers where each player needs to race to climb upwards through the use of grappling hooks that can also be used to slow down opponents. The weird thing is that the player is controlling a ball with a face on it, hence the name Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls, and honestly, that was just a bit creepy as far as the characters go. There were 100 levels, which again was quite a lot at the time, and you could play with up to four people in split screen mode.
Artwork: Sadly, the art hasn’t aged well.
Overall: A title best left forgotten to time. It was kind of innovative at the time, but overall it was pretty forgettable.
