Hey all, I’m back with a classic from 1994 for this week’s Retro Game Friday. It’s Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
Gameplay: The actual gameplay was pretty basic, and players took on the role of a pitcher or batter in a Major League Baseball game. However, it was groundbreaking for the time because it used the actual stats from the MLB 1993 season. Note that there were no actual players (there are fictitious versions though) besides, of course, Ken Griffey Jr.
This is still one of the best baseball video games out there. Even today, Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball is a lot of fun to play if you can find it and a working SNES.
Art: The artwork was colorful and stylized, which is why it has aged pretty well.
Music: This is SNES type of music, but it fits it just fine.
Overall: A solid baseball title that is still regarded as one of the best in the sports genre.
For those who like: Baseball and simple yet solid gameplay.
Not for those who don’t like: Either of the above.
