Hey all, I’m back with the fifth entry in a series I really enjoyed back in the day for this week’s Retro Game Friday. It’s Mega Man Battle Network 5.

Plot: The plot is okay, though it does have its downsides in the gameplay. It involves the returning villain Dr. Regal and his crime organization Nebula and their return with a vengeance after being defeated in Mega Man Battle Network 4.

Gameplay: This plays a lot like any other Battle Network though there is a new addition with the Liberation Missions that play a lot like a turn-based strategy game that forces players to use some of the new NPCs while advancing to liberate the Net from Nebula’s control. This is probably the weakest part of Mega Man Battle Network 5 because it’s just different enough to be annoying and a distraction from the rest of the gameplay.

Art: The art isn’t really any different than previous entries.

Music: It fit the game, but that’s all I can say. It wasn’t very memorable.

Overall: A less fun entry, but it’s still a Battle Network game so fans of the series will probably enjoy it for the most part.
