Hey all, I’m back with the second book in the adventures of Hiro and his crew of the Krishna for this week’s Translation Necessary Thursday. It’s “Reborn as a Space Mercenary Volume 02” by Ryuto.

Plot: This second entry starts off with Hiro and crew heading to a new star system after leaving the Tarmein system. They are headed there in order to find some medical facilities and get his crew a checkup as well as to get away from a rather persistent lieutenant of the Grakkan Empire trying to recruit him into serving in the military. Needless to say, by the time they arrive in the Arein system things start to occur.

This is probably one of the weaker entries in the series, but it’s still very good because Hiro really does outclass almost all of his opponents in his ship, so the tension is very low which just lets the reader enjoy a good sci-fi adventure as this series continues to expand on the world building of its universe.

Characters: We get to meet a couple of new characters in this entry, the standout probably being Dr. Shoko who is pretty fun. But the stars of this entry are definitely the crew of the Krishna, which is only sensible since they’re the main characters.

Overall: A solid, if not quite as strong second entry in a very fun sci-fi series.
