Hey all, I’m back with yet another question for all of you readers. It’s all about the hopes for the next generation of consoles.

Hopes for the Next Gen?: Yes, what is it that you hope to see from the next generation of consoles?

It seems odd to be talking about this now that the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 are finally hitting their stride with new games and amazing titles that are really fun to play either in single player or cooperatively. But the truth is that the big console makers, including Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo are already starting to tease some next generation plans.

What are my hopes for the Next Gen?: Personally, I’m hoping we can see the solid-state drives that came out with both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X become more mainstream across the industry. The load times are amazing, especially given how long it took for some games to load on the original PlayStation 4, like Grand Theft Auto V Online.

The new drives are also much more quiet than previous hard drives. I have even on occasion turned off all my lights to go to bed and saw my PlayStation 5 was still running because of the lights. It was quiet as a mouse otherwise.

I would like for the drives to get larger in the new consoles. Having anything under a couple terabytes of storage means that you really can’t put more than a few modern titles in place before you have to offload or delete something. But that will come as the technology gets less expensive – and probably even faster too.

That’s it for this week’s Video Game Tuesday!
