Hey all, I’m back with yet another question for all you readers. It’s all about paid content continued into future sequels.

Paid Content Continued Into Future Sequels?: My question is thus: Do you think game developers should include content that you paid for in future sequels of games like Call of Duty? There are some character skins people can earn, and some you can buy. I know some people can get really attached to paid content like certain characters or skins and want to continue using them in future sequels if they can. The most recent Call of Duty, Modern Warfare III, allowed players to keep all the content they had from 2022’s Modern Warfare II, which included paid content as well. It was a brilliant move in my opinion. Frankly, I’d like to see such things continue going forward in more titles.

Destiny 2 is probably nearing the end of its life cycle because Destiny 3 is rumored to be in the works. But I remember being very upset when Destiny 2 was first announced, and that players weren’t going to be able to keep any of the gear they had earned. That was when Destiny was only 3 years old. Destiny 2 has lasted for 7 years at this point, and that’s a lot of effort players will potentially lose.

I know personally I’d be upset if I was still a player of the game, which I’m not because I really didn’t enjoy the way Bungie treated its player base with constant balancing changes affecting both PvE and PvP equally when it was absolutely not necessary. But if I put seven years of hard work and effort into getting items, I’d want to be able to keep them in some fashion going into the sequel. And if I had actually paid for content, I’d definitely want to keep it since I bothered to pay for some cosmetic in the first place.

That’s it for this week’s Video Game Tuesday.
