This week for Retro Game Friday I’m covering a really old game, one of the first ones I can remember, it even came out before I was born! It’s Chip’s Challenge.
Plot Synopsis: The premise of the game is that high-school nerd Chip McCallahan has met Melinda The Mental Marvel in the school science laboratory and must navigate through Melinda’s “Clubhouse” (a series of increasingly difficult puzzles) in order to prove himself and gain membership to the very exclusive Bit Buster Club.
Plot: I never knew this game even had a plot, I just played it on my Dad’s old computer when I was 4.
Gameplay: The gameplay is pretty simple. It’s a top down view puzzle game, and you try to work your way through a series of increasingly difficult levels.
Music: I honestly don’t remember if this game had music as I haven’t played it in 15 years at least.
Art: The art was pretty decent given that it’s older than me, a pretty classic looking game. The above cover art is hilarious though.
Overall: If you want a tough, at least I remember it being tough, puzzle game try this one. It’s probably been made into a flash game that you can play on your browser.
