This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’ve got the third volume of one of my favorite series. It’s Death March Volume 03 by Ainana Hiro!

Plot Synopsis: Having travelled to Seryuu City and encountered and then slain a Demon, Satou had been touring around the town with a local soldier, Zena who he rescued from a tree after the Demon Attack. Seeing a trio of Beastkin girl slaves being abused by a priest who wanted to stir up trouble, they step in to save the trio. However the priest had been influenced by the remaining arm of the Demon that Satou had slain earlier and when it was done with the host it proceeded to generate a labyrinth full of monsters. Satou sent Zena to get help, and he and the Beastkin girls team up to exit the labyrinth. He becomes their new owner and names them Liza, Pochi and Tama. Encountering a couple others he finally escapes the labryinth only to be intercepted by a missile named Zena…

Plot: This volume/arc is focused almost completely on the aftermath of the previous volume. That being said it’s not completely focused on that, we get to meet a few new characters, and we finally get to understand a bit more about the world Satou ended up. This is a pretty solid set of chapters, although it’s lacking in action scenes.

Characters: We get introduced to a couple new people, mostly Arisa and Lulu. Frankly Arisa is a bit of a creeper, but she’s not too bad. Lulu on the other hand is a pretty shy character, hopefully she opens up a bit more in future volumes.

Overall: This is a great volume, if a bit lacking in the action department.
