This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m covering the first volume in a series I read recently and fell in total love with! It’s Douluo Dalu Volume 01 by Tang Jia San Shao!

Plot Synopsis: Tang Sect, the most famous martial arts sect of all. By stealing its most secret teachings to fulfill his dreams, Tang San committed an unforgivable crime. With his ambition attained, he hands his legacy to the sect and throws himself from the fearsome “Hell’s Peak.” But he could have never imagined that this would reincarnate him in another world, one without magic, martial arts, and grudges. A land where only the mystical souls of battle lay. The continent of Douluo.

Plot: The plot is pretty great, and while this first volume only introduces us to Tang San and his beginning in this new world, it still is very interesting. I love the fact that Xiao Wu kicks his ass as well. Tang San isn’t overpowered and is constantly proven how weak he is.

Characters: Tang San is a wonderful male lead, and we even get introduced to our female lead in this volume. Xiao Wu is probably one of the best female leads I’ve read in a long time and Tang San and her’s relationship in this volume is awesome. Grandmaster and San’s father are also great characters.

Overall: This is the introduction to an amazing series, a must read.
