This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with another new series. It’s Isekai Ryouridou Volume 01 by Eda!
Plot: The plot is pretty interesting as it takes the typical Isekai plot sequence and throws it out the window. There is no Hero required to defeat a Demon King, no war to win. Instead Asuta is stuck in a very early hunter gatherer society and needs to make do with what he has, which is the knowledge of cooking. It’s not action packed, nor is it filled with great political intrigue, it’s just slice of life in a very different setting with a 17 year old kid who knows nothing but how to cook and general knowledge from public education.
Characters: Our stars are Tsurumi Asuta and Ai Fa, both of who are very different people and outcasts in the society Asuta finds himself in. Asuta isn’t some great warrior or gifted with incredible knowledge and foresight. Ai Fa is a young woman whose only family died a few years before leaving her to fend for herself in a community that prides itself on strength and hunting but frowns on Women doing what is perceived as Men’s work. The rest of the cast is interesting as well, but the stars are Asuta and Ai Fa.
Overall: A must read if you want something vastly different from the usual Isekai genre.
For those who like: Isekai, Slice of Life, Cooking, Drama, Great Plot, Excellent Lead Characters, Amazing Cast of Characters.
Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
