Hey all I’m back with a Light Novel this week for Translation Necessary Thursday. It’s Legend Volume 01 by Kannazuki Kou!

Plot: The plot is a pretty standard Isekai/Tensei plot to start off with, but quickly starts to stand out with the fact that Rei our main character is very much a loner who works best with his partner Set, the griffon. Honestly I enjoyed this first volume quite a bit, it lays out the world pretty well, but leaves plenty of room for expansion which does occur in later volumes.

Characters: Rei and Set are our two main characters in this volume, and they’re a very fun contrast to each other. Rei is pretty much a standoffish loner who doesn’t take crap from anyone and Set who, despite his species being widely regarded as the grim reaper of the air, is a lovable pet who wants walkies and treats. Of course the treats are usually the meat of various fantasy monsters, but that’s par for the course in this series.

Overall: This first volume lays out some of the world pretty darn well, and introduces us to Rei, Set and the city of Gilm.

For those who like: Fantasy, Action, Adventure, LitRPGs, Isekai, Great Plot and Worldbuilding,

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
