Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today the launch of The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest, a third-person action adventure video game offering a family-friendly gameplay experience based on The Lord of the Rings, for all ages to enjoy together on PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system supporting PlayStationMove motion controller, Wii system from Nintendo, Nintendo DS hand-held system, PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system and PSP (PlayStationPortable) system.
The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest empowers parents and families to become the legendary Aragorn and embark upon his most valiant battles from The Lord of the Rings literary trilogy and films. Wielding a sword, shield, bow or spear, players journey through a colorful rendition of Middle-earth and take down enemies in an action-packed adventure.
"The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest lets fans relive the greatest adventures from Middle-earth and experience them in an exciting new way, as well as introduce younger gamers to the trilogy," said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "For the first time, players can become the heroes from J.R.R. Tolkien’s world using the PlayStationMove motion controller or the Wii as they wield Aragorn’s sword and Gandalf’s staff in well-known scenes from The Lord of the Rings."
Actors Sean Astin and John Rhys-Davies reprise their The Lord of the Rings film roles as the voices of Samwise Gamgee, who narrates the game, and Gimli. Both the PlayStation 3 system and Wii versions include two-player co-op gameplay featuring Gandalf so kids, families and friends can work together in the heart of the action.
Also on September 14, Warner Home Video will release individual versions of the three original theatrical films-The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring; The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers; The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King-on Blu-ray Disc, with more than seven hours of special features. All three of Peter Jackson’s visual masterpieces are sure to reawaken the powerful connection fans have to these film(s) s howcasing the stunning cinematography and resolution only available on Blu-ray Disc. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy six disc set containing all three movies and hours of special features is also available for purchase on Blu-ray Disc.
The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest for PlayStation 3 system is rated "T" for Teen and available for $59.99. The Wii version is rated "T" for Teen and available for $49.99.
