Spacetime Studios’ sci-fi MMO Blackstar has set its sights on Android and iOS owners. Blackstar’s deep storyline and years of extensive production design, combined with Spacetime Studios’ superior multiplayer technology are sure to set it apart from any other mobile game.
Launch is set for Q2 2011.
Blackstar is a cross-platform, 3D mobile MMO with a massive world ripe for discovery and action. The game tells the story of 41st century conflict between the ruthless Scorn, a race endowed with arcane powers granted by alien gods; the Riven, necro-cyborg beings allied with the Scorn; the futuristic humans of the United Colonies Defense Force, and their robotic allies known as the Mode.
Previously an unreleased, much-anticipated PC title, Blackstar’s rich storyline and extensive assets made it an obvious choice for Spacetime’s next epic mobile adventure. The massive amount of content created for the game make it possible to go well-beyond a single title.
"Blackstar’s production design and overall polish will be unmatched in mobile gaming," says Gary Gattis, CEO, Spacetime Studios. "We were able to nurture the IP to its maximum potential through years of development – a luxury never before seen in Mobile gaming. If you ever dreamed of a fully-featured sci-fi MMO that you can take anywhere, look for the first chapter of the Blackstar saga soon."
In creating Blackstar, Spacetime Studios leveraged the Spacetime Engine. Founded on technology from the PC MMO world with more than $10 million invested in development, the Spacetime Engine allows production of high-quality games for iOS, Android, PC, Mac and Linux-based platforms. The first of its kind, the engine successfully manages the inherent processing, storage, and bandwidth issues of an MMO allowing seamless global play on mobile phones, i-devices, and tablets via Wi-Fi, Edge, 3G and 4G connections.
Blackstar will be available for download in the App Store and in the Android Market in Q2 2011.
