Mobile gamers the world over now have the chance to renew their love affair with Boulder Dash, First Star Software's timeless and much-loved classic action-puzzle game, which has sold millions of units since its original launch in 1984. I-play, the mobile entertainment company, today announced that Boulder Dash®-M.E. 2 is launching across I-play's global distribution network of 100 carrier partners, providing potential access to over one billion mobile subscribers.
Rockford, the game's key character, makes his long-awaited return to mobile following a very successful debut in 2003. The universally loved Boulder Dash franchise, first released in 1984 for home computers and a wide range of coin-op arcade, console, hand-held and PC game platforms, is now available to a mobile audience through I-play's extensive global distribution network.
Simple-to-play but difficult-to-master, the game boasts three difficulty settings and an incredible 90 caves. Players guide Rockford around scrolling caves of boulders, diamonds and animated enemies, with the goal of collecting a set quota of diamonds and then finding the concealed exit to advance to the next cave before time runs out. Developed by InstantCom, and co-published by I-play and First Star Software, the game has new graphics and features, including the ability to rotate the screen 90° at a time, kick objects, smash boulders with hammers, collect and use bombs and solve puzzle challenges.
David Gosen, CEO of I-play commented, "Boulder Dash M.E. 2 stays true to I-play's philosophy of accessible one-thumb games delivering instant fun, and we are delighted to be able to bring this updated version to the market in association with First Star Software. Arcade classics have proven themselves beyond a doubt in the mobile gaming space, and Boulder Dash has the added advantage of having already done very well on mobile. Welcome back Rockford!"
Richard M. Spitalny, President of First Star Software, Inc., commented, "We're hugely excited about the launch of this incredible sequel and to be working again with both our development partners at InstantCom and our publishing partners at I-play. We are looking forward to achieving even greater success with Boulder Dash M.E. 2 than attained with the original mobile edition."
