Codemasters Gets New Chief Executive

Codemasters, a leading developer and international publisher of computer and video games, today announced that Nick Wheelwright has been appointed Chief Executive of Codemasters Group Ltd.

Wheelwright joined Codemasters more than 11 years ago as finance director. He became managing director in 1996 and led the company's international expansion and growth through the to the $100 million developer and publisher of today.

David Darling, Codemasters' Chairman, announced the appointment today: "Nick plays an integral part in Codemasters' success and I'm delighted to have him as Chief Executive. His management and market understanding are valuable assets as we work towards some of our most successful years in the global market place."

In his new capacity as Chief Executive, Wheelwright will be responsible for implementing the strategic goals and objectives of the company, while providing direction and leadership toward the achievement of the organization's mission and objectives.

The new role also sees Wheelwright chairing Codemasters' Product Planning Group, which, in consultation with development and publishing, is the channel for green-lighting new product creation and franchise extension.

We have superb development and international publishing teams, supported by strong, focused management and a proven track record in producing definitive gaming brands across a wide range of genres," said Wheelwright. Codemasters is one of the strongest privately owned companies in the computer and video game industry with key gaming brands including Colin McRae Rally, ToCA Race Driver, Operation Flashpoint, LMA Manager, and the Club Football range of official team-specific games.
