EVE Online, the Sci-Fi massively multiplayer online (MMO) game developed by CCP Games and launched in 2003 is amongst a select 14 video games to be accepted into the permanent collection of The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
The games, chosen from the vast history of the industry, were chosen based on their outstanding examples of interactive design as well as other artistic criteria. There will be an installation at the Museum to showcase the chosen games beginning in March 2013.
"As we are poised to enter our second decade of growth and prosperity, it is an indescribable honor for us and for everyone who’s ever worked on EVE to even be considered alongside these fellow revolutionary games" said Hilmar Veigar Petursson, CEO of CCP. "We’re proud of our developers for envisioning and shaping EVE Online’s unique game universe and most humbly thankful to our players for bringing true substance to it."
