Innovative digital entertainment works from Hong Kong will be showcased at the first Hong Kong Pavilion in the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2003 (E³) – the world’s largest event of its kind – to be held in Los Angeles, USA, from May 14 to 16, 2003.
The Hong Kong Pavilion will present the latest technologies, products and services from 70 local digital entertainment companies of Hong Kong. Located at the Kentia Hall (Booth no. 6451) of the Los Angeles Convention Center, the Hong Kong Pavilion is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Association (HKDEA) and Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), with support from the SME Development Fund of the HKSAR Government’s Trade and Industry Department.
Mr Victor Dao, Chairman of HKDEA, said, "E³ is the most important trade event in the interactive digital entertainment industry in the world. Last year the event attracted over 400 exhibitors from 70 countries and regions, and more than 60,000 buyers and visitors."
"For the first time, the high quality, creative, yet cost-effective works from Hong Kong will be displayed at a Hong Kong Pavilion, offering an effective business matching platform for Hong Kong industry players with overseas buyers and partners," he said.
Mr Charles Chow, General Manager (e-Enterprise Solution) of HKPC, said, "The Hong Kong Pavilion will highlight our capabilities in visual effects, digital animation and entertainment software development and production. The winning entries of the 1st Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Excellence Awards, jointly organised by the Commerce, Industry & Technology Bureau, HKPC, HKDEA and Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association, will also be exhibited."
"In addition to on-site demonstration of entertainment software, visitors can sample an array of PC games, online as well as mobile games developed by Hong Kong companies," he added.
To coincide with the participation in E³, HKPC will organize a study mission to the world-renowned gaming software developer/manufacturer Cosmi Corporation and digital game publisher Vivendi Universal Games, Inc in Los Angeles to foster closer ties between US and Hong Kong industries for future business collaboration.
Members of the 20-person delegation will include Mr Victor Dao, Mr. Charles Chow, winners of the Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Excellence Awards and representatives of local industry players.
