SEGA of America, Inc. today announced that Iron Man 2: The Video Game is now available, offering fans an intense cinematic gaming experience that combines familiar elements from both the movie and comic book universes. Iron Man 2: The Video Game is a third-person action adventure game that enables players to choose between Iron Man or, for the first time ever, War Machine, as they battle villains as tall as skyscrapers in order to save the world from destruction. Featuring the voices of movie talent Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson, an all new-storyline written with the help of famed comic book writer Matt Fraction, and a metal soundtrack boasting an exclusive track from Lamb of God, Iron Man 2: The Video Game is now available in North America for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system,
PSP (PlayStationPortable) system, Wii and Nintendo DS system.
Based on the cinematic universe featured in Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 2, in theaters beginning May 7, the gametakes players even deeper into the world of Iron Man. In addition to intense artillery that can blow holes through walls and topple structures and vehicles, players are able to visit Tony’s lab to build and customize their ideal suit and weaponry. As battles unfold through hugely destructible indoor and outdoor environments, the game introduces fans to massive enemies including Crimson Dynamo, the classic Iron Man villain who is only featured in the video game, and Ultimo, a comic book favorite.
Bringing a big screen experience to the living room, Iron Man 2: The Video Game boasts marquee voice-over talent, music and writing. Renowned actors Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson expand their roles from the upcoming Iron Man 2 summer blockbuster from Marvel Studios with Cheadle voicing Tony Stark’s close friend James "Rhodey" Rhodes – the powerful War Machine – while Jackson joins the game as S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury. Together they round out a cast of characters that transports fans into a deeper and more authentic cinematic video game experience.
For the soundtrack, two-time Grammy-nominated heavy metal superstars Lamb of God created an exclusive song called "Hit the Wall," while other notable talent, including Meshuggah, STEMM, and Soilwork, among others, rounded out the primarily metal tracklisting. Adding to the all-star list of contributors is Matt Fraction, the highly acclaimed writer who was pivotal in creating the game’s brand new story. As an Eisner-nominated comic book scribe whose work at Marvel includes The Invincible Iron Man, The Uncanny X-Men, The Immortal Iron Fist and many more, Fraction was able to easily parlay his magic from paper to pixels.
