GiN readers have been writing in to report on major lockup issues occurring around the release of 2K Sport's Major League Baseball 2K6. A quick check of the company's forums has found hundreds of other complaints, all related to the Xbox 360 version of the game.
GiN Reviewer Todd Hargosh attempted to load a review copy of the game on the Xbox 360 and experienced the lockup as well.
"I could not play one whole inning without it locking up," he said. "I could not go online without it locking up and could not look at player stats. It's a mess."
Today, 2K Sports released a statement on their Web site confirming the lockup issues and promising to try and get the issue fixed.
"For those customers experiencing technical issues with Major League Baseball 2K6 on Xbox 360, 2K Sports is aware of the ‘freeze’ problem some customers are experiencing and is working on a solution. This appears to occur for owners of Xbox 360 with HDD and a solution will be available in the very near future. For updates on this issue, please visit http://www.2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?p=691251. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused to your playing experience."
The game is also out for the PS2, GameCube and Xbox classic and no issues from those versions of the game have yet been reported.
