Mexico Hosting Game Trade Show

With the purpose of continuing the efforts to consolidate and further propel the Mexican digital entertainment industry, Oelli announces the third edition of the Electronic Game Show (EGS 2004), to be held from October 22nd to October 24th, at the World Trade Center’s Maya ballroom in Mexico City.

The Mexican digital entertainment industry is reaching a new point in its development. An evidence of this is the confirmed attendance of three major videogame console manufacturers (Xbox, GameCube and PlayStation), a first for any event aimed to the end user in Latin America. Also participating, will be the world´s leading publishers, such as Electronic Arts -NAMCO,
KONAMI, TAKE2 and THQ, all of them showing their latest titles and upcoming
releases.

EGS has positioned itself as the crossroad between end users, manufacturers
and developers; making the EGS a unique forum in Latin America. Another important milestone will be the EGS in Sao Paulo Brazil, which will take place from November 19th until November 21st, the first event of its kind to reach the southern hemisphere.

The worldwide videogame market represents approximately 50 billion dollars, with an expected growth worldwide to 85 billion dollars by the end of 2006.

In Mexico alone, there are more than 12 million videogamers making Latin America one of the fastest growing markets in the world.

Every year this sector generates nearly 410 million dollars in sales and in 2006 it will reach 500 million dollars, according to Jorge Lizarraga, Oelli´s general manager.

"Mexico’s geographic location is a key element for the mexican videogame industry. Being so close to the most important market in videogame industry gives us a big chance to develop synergies in order to obtain technological and commercial projects; also, it gives us the chance to boost the videogame sector in a local way but with a global vision", Lizarraga said.

Besides EGS, and also having in mind the objective of solidifying the Mexican digital entertainment industry, Oelli has also developed the Latingamer concept; a tournament series held in Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara. Only during this year, the event has gathered over 25,000 videogamers. The big final will be held at EGS 2004, where the best players
of every city will virtually play "for their lives" and various cash and prizes.

Electronic Game Show 2004 will be held on Maya ballrooms at Mexico City’s WTC, from October 22nd until October 24th. The expected attendance for this year is 35 thousand people.
