Loadingames today announced that Misfortune, their web based role-playing game, is now in open beta. All players are invited and encouraged to try out and experience the world of Misfortune.
Misfortune is a steampunk RPG browser game. In the game, the protagonist finds himself marooned on an unfamiliar island, in a strange and violent town called Rodnia. Fighting for survival, he collects exotic items, combats vicious pirates, squirrels and automatons, saves people in danger… and if that’s not enough, he unites lovers, gets into a cursing match with a parrot, argues endlessly with his aunt, and experiences numerous other adventures.
The game is intended to be a "casual" RPG, to be played for 20-30 minutes at a time. However, unlike many other casual RPG games, the main emphasis of Misfortune is the plot. As the game progresses, a complex story unfolds, including multiple plot-lines that intertwine together.
Misfortune’s art was created by an illustrator with a simple pencil, scanned, and then digitally colored. Using the traditional technique of pencil on paper gave Misfortune its unique look which distinguishes it from other games. The art was created in the spirit of the Steampunk genre, with a humorous pirate theme touch.
Misfortune is perpetually growing, providing its community with new features and content published every week.
Misfortune is free to play, providing hours of fun. In addition, for advanced players, premium content is available for purchase, further unraveling the world of Misfortune and its stories. The game is available at: http://www.loadingames.com
