Publisher Anuman Interactive is breathing life back into the XIII game, originally released by Ubisoft in 2003. The new game is called XIII Lost Identity and will be based on the Franco-Belgian comic of the same name.
Ubisoft brought XIII to PS2, Xbox, GameCube and PC eight years ago. It’s stylish cel-shaded graphics make it one to be remembered, but was let down by lack lustre gameplay and it failed to garner commercial success.
The XIII comic series was originally published in 1984. Inspired by Robert Ludlam’s Bourne Identity novel, the comic’s protagonist is an amnesiac who struggles to unravel the mystery of his past.
Details of the new game are thin on the ground. XIII Lost Identity will be released on PC, Mac, iPhone and iPad. Ubisoft is not involved in the project.
I’m hoping this will spark a return to cel-shading, but with the added benefit of great gameplay.
