Rising Star Games Inc., a UK-based publisher of multi-platform video games, today announced its official expansion across the Atlantic with the opening of North American headquarters. Additionally, Rising Star has appointed Phil Robinson as vice president of operations for the US office, where he will oversee all operations, secure American and Canadian distribution and publishing agreements and work closely with the European team to ensure a smooth extension to the Rising Star brand. Rising Star Games also announces the company’s first title to be published in the US will be Akai Katana for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. The title, which is being developed by legendary Japanese developer Cave, will street Q2 2012.
Robinson most recently served as the head of communications at Tradewest Games, and before that, helped set up Midway Games’ entrance into the UK and European markets. With more than a decade of video game industry experience, Robinson will bring his knowledge of working on some of the most recognized brands in the industry to Rising Star’s US operation.
"After hearing Rising Star’s plan to move into the North American market, I jumped at the opportunity to build the company’s foundation here in the States," said Phil Robinson. "The title lineup for this year will be aggressive, diverse, and mark the beginning of a really thrilling time at the company."
"There’s no better person than Phil to join the Rising Star Games family and be the first employee in the US," said Martin Defries, managing director of Rising Star Games. "Phil’s background gives us the ability to hit the ground running and bring our lineup to the US market swiftly and effectively."
