The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has received quite a few perfect review scores, including one right here from GiN. But the snowy Nords have also conquered an area no Western game ever has: getting a perfect 40 out of 40 from Japanese games magazine Famitsu. How that publication works is that there are four reviewers, each one contributing ten points to the score.

While 17 games from Asia have previously gotten perfect 40s, no game created by Western developers has achieved that honor before Skyrim.

A few Western titles have earned 39 out of 40 points, including Grand Theft Auto IV, Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, COD: Black Ops, Gears of War 3, and FIFA 12. But only Skyrim has been called perfect.
