Video game publisher Slitherine has released the latest episode of The Geek Recipe, its cooking show which is produced by gamers for gamers. Available now on Slitherine’s YouTube channel, episode three of Season 2 features the show’s very first guest from outside the gaming industry, acclaimed Hollywood director, Martin Wood.
In this special Christmas-themed episode, Martin Wood joins Slitherine’s own “crepe machine” (and Chief Marketing Officer) Marco Minoli to prepare two delicious vegetarian crepe recipes. Here Wood spills the beans on his introduction to the TV and film industry, his unexpected transition from sci-fi to romantic comedies, as well as sharing his thoughts on some of the latest video game adaptations to hit our screens.
With a career that spans almost three decades, Wood’s decorated list of directorial credits include hit shows such as Virgin River, Stargate SG-1, and Stargate Atlantis. His appearance on the show is also a fitting one, as Wood has three festive movies to his name debuting this year (Holiday Road, My Christmas Hero, and Christmas for the Ages).
Martin Wood’s longest serving role as director was for the hit military sci-fi TV show Stargate SG-1, where he directed 47 episodes between 1998 and 2006. Talking about the experience he gained from working on the show, he told us “I learned a lot about the craft from doing Stargate and the industry was changing so much in terms of what we could do with visual effects.” He later added, “My education was the education of the industry and learning how to push the boundaries further forward.”
