The eyes of the world are on Japan this week for the huge Tokyo Games Show. However, one announcement from Sony may not make Japanese gamers very happy.
Sony announced that within its home territory, the PlayStation 4 will not be released in 2013. In fact, Japan will need to wait until February 22nd of 2014 before they can purchase a PS4. That is compared to November 15th of this year in the United States and November 29th for Europe.
When the PS4 goes on sale in Japan, it will be priced at 39,980 yen. That puts it in line with the equivalent prices found in other countries. Sony did say that a free copy of Knack will be included for all Japanese gamers who preorder the system.
Sony added that the long wait time was because they were trying to put together a proper software bundle that would appeal to Japanese gamers.
