The wait is over for iPad owners longing to scratch their match-three itch: Alawar Entertainment, a leading publisher of casual games, has released The Treasures of Montezuma, a port of the popular PC release, for Apple’s portable device. For $6.99, players can enjoy over 40 levels of spectacular visuals and additive match-three action.
The Treasures of Montezuma features innovative gameplay in which the player must make consecutive matches of the same artifacts to trigger Power Totems. Doing so unleashes awesome chain reactions that allow the player to collect the gems he or she needs before time runs out. While beating level after level, the player also follows the beautiful and clever archeologist Dr. Emily Jones as she solves an ancient mystery that can transform the world.
"Casual gamers have loved matching gems ever since Bejeweled first appeared on the PC, so we’re excited about being the first publisher to bring a match-three game to the iPad," Kirill Plotnikov, vice-president of publishing, says. "We believe iPad owners will especially enjoy the unique challenge of using the Power Totems to beat levels. The gameplay is so exciting, there’s even a trophy for winning a level at the last second!"
