It’s amazing to think that Grand Theft Auto 5 and its online component, GTAV Online, is nine years old at this point, and yet it continues to be one of the top online games played by thousands of players every single day. One of the biggest reasons for this, besides the fact that the open-world fictional city of Los Santos (modeled after real life LA) is an amazing place to play in for hours on end, is the fact that Rockstar Games continues to support the GTA Online with new content drops all the time. And among these, the biggest one of the year has traditionally been the summer content update. So what can we expect this time?
Rockstar could always surprise us, but this year might be a little more subdued than previous updates. It will still be good of course, but probably not Earth-shattering this time around. You can only announce a brand new record label or a massive single player heist so many times. This is especially true now that the developers are likely already working on Grand Theft Auto 6 at this point, although that too remains mostly shrouded in secrecy.
So yes, Rockstar could surprise us once more. If you want to jump on unibet PA apps and make a wager on a huge update, it might not be a bad idea, but let’s go over what we know for sure about the coming summer update. Because this just might be the first of many planned for our summer fun.
Los Santos Tuners
It looks like instead of a single summer update, that Rockstar might be releasing content this summer in batches. The first one is called Los Santos Tuners, and is set to drop on July 20th for players on every platform including PC and consoles.
On July 20, the underground tuner scene in Los Santos roars to life with the launch of GTA Online: Los Santos Tuners. In addition to a ton of action-packed, Tuner-based missions and races, this update introduces the LS Car Meet, a gigantic, shared social space where you and your cherished personal vehicle can mingle freely with fellow car fans to race, show off your customized vehicles, and even link up with shady contacts looking for skilled drivers and a chance at easy money.
The heart of the new update is a brand new shared social space where players can come together and share their love of cars at the LS Car Meet, an underground street racers space in which players can safely show off customized vehicles, admire others’ styles and modifications, become an LS Car Meet Member and mod vehicles in real-time with friends, test them at the new Test Track, demo new cars, and much more. The fact that it’s a safe space means that weapons are likely disabled (including weaponized vehicles) which is a must if they don’t want the peaceful swap meet to turn into yet another Carmageddon-like death match. GTA V Online already has enough of those arenas.
To get started, you’ll need to visit a non-descript, graffitied warehouse on the edge of town in Cypress Flats — listen close and the sound of engines revving might give it away, or look for the makeshift finish line on the road outside. Inside, the LS Car Meet has a “good vibes only” policy, making it a great place to skip the attention of the law and any small-time chumps looking to terrorize the citizens of greater Los Santos.
The buy-in to become a member of the club, with access to the shared space, is reportedly $50,000, so pretty cheap by GTA Online standards.
Once you are all membered up, you can unlock a new Reputation progression with new benefits unlocking after each Level. Plus, you’ll get access to the Test Track, a large underground space inside the Car Meet warehouse where you and your friends can drive, drift, and race vehicles freely, without interference from pesky pedestrians or the law. You can also sample new Test Rides in the Test Track – your chance to get behind the wheel of a rotating selection of vehicles and push their limits.
Members will also get to compete in rotating Prize Ride Challenges for the opportunity to win a special Prize Ride and get access to a range of special shops and features — including the Merch Shop, Tattoo Shop, and the Modding Area, where you can show off your customization prowess to other players in real time as you work on your build. Higher level Members can also create a Private Takeover complete with customizable lighting and banner colors to decorate the Car Meet space to your tastes.
New Whips and Slick Rides
Naturally, this update to GTA Online will inject a whole new ensemble of fresh vehicle inventory across Los Santos dealerships — ranging from imported tuner cars from Annis, Dinka, Übermacht, and more to that straight up Vapid muscle that Americans have come to know and love. There will be 17 new cars in total over the course of the summer, with 10 dropping at launch on July 20.
Plus, when GTA Online launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later this year, select vehicles will be upgradable with all new speed improvements and more. These special upgrades will be available only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Grand Theft Auto V.
More Fun in the Sun
In addition to the new Tuners update, Rockstar has said that there will be Contracts for new robberies to tackle with your crew alongside a familiar face from The Music Locker. So it looks like the summer is just starting to heat up in GTA Online.
