Busting Planets And Taking Names

This game is actually the complete opposite of what the title suggests. At first I actually expected it to be some kind of arcade or adventure game. In fact, I actually uninstalled the game and reinstalled it to make sure I had the right title. After I found out that it was the correct game, I started playing.

In actuality, Planet Buster is a puzzle game. The object of the game is to move planets around to get them to form a row, kind of like a standard match-3 (or whatever number) title.

However, there’s a challenge to this simple mechanic. Each stage has a time limit to score, so making combos is essential.

Thankfully, the controls and concepts in this game aren’t hard to grasp. I was breaking combos like a pro in no time.

Then it got challenging. I quickly found out that the first few stages were merely warm ups. Not even through the first planet (Which are the levels in this game, with so many stages in each level) I was busting combos and still running short of time. Planet Busters makes you think both fast and hard.

If you speed through then you don’t get nearly enough points. On the other hand if takes too long to plan your next move then you’ll run out of time.

On many stages I found myself trying to find this balance and in many instances I was unable to do so.

Playtime wasn’t an issue with Planet Busters. Despite struggling through the first couple of planets I had a long way to go. This game has a long "campaign" mode to it. I’m not a big fan of puzzle games personally, but this game had me sucked in and addicted. In the mornings before work I wasted my spare time playing this game.

As much as I hate to steal some of reviewer Billy’s thunder, this game is a great Time Waster.

Background music in this game is catchy and after awhile it will get stuck in your head. It blends really well with the tempo of the game.

While the cut scenes in this game are very few and very far in between, the graphics are great. Even during the actual game play the colors are bright and vivid.

Overall Planet Buster is a great game for anyone with time to waste as well as hardcore puzzle gamers. This game kind of reminds me of bejeweled on steroids. With upbeat music and sharp colorful graphics it’s also easy on the eyes.

All in all I give this game 3.5 GiN Gems out of 5.
