Welcome Time Wasters!

My adventures through the web this week led me to a puzzles game called Lines FRVR. I wasn’t feeling a game with heavy reliance on reflexes, so it seemed like the perfect option as a way to relax.

Lines FRVR is a simple game that has the player connecting lines to two different endpoints. Endpoints that go together will both be the same color. There are also multiple different endpoints on each level. Players have to connect all of the endpoints and use up all the space in the level to win.

Red to red. Yellow to yellow. Pretty simple stuff.

Honestly, you’ve probably already played a game very similar to Lines FRVR. There are loads of them for mobile devices, but I haven’t really seen many for browsers. Lines FRVR fills both these rolls. I chose to play on my browser because I was in hermit mode this week. I just needed some time to recharge after attending another wedding last weekend (that’s the third one in as many months) and this game did it for me. I’m sure it comes as no surprise to many of you that I’m the kind of person that can only do so much social activity before feeling drained.

While the gameplay of Lines FRVR is nothing new, that doesn’t mean the game isn’t worth a look. There are a lot of levels to play through and they vary in difficulty quite a bit. There are also different difficulty options depending on how much the player feels like being challenged at any particular point in time.

And I’m almost done!

The visuals in Lines FRVR are nice and crisp. It looks great on a  computer monitor and I imagine this likely holds true for the mobile version of the game as well. There were never any problems identifying parts of the levels and even the options menu was well organized with plenty of small changes available.

The audio in Lines FRVR is pretty basic. It has nice soft music and sound effects to go with its relaxed gameplay. It all jives together really well. The only thing that doesn’t work for me is the deep voice that comes in at the end of each level to say “groovy” or “fantastic.” Luckily, there’s an option to shut this off while leaving the music on, but it will turn off the sound effects as well.

Overall, Lines FRVR is a good way to waste time. It doesn’t offer anything innovative or try to mix up its genre, but that’s okay. What really helps the game is the level of polish it has. This results in a clear display and responsive gameplay that make sure the player doesn’t run into any problems during their time with it. It’s was also a nice distraction so I could just veg in my chair while sitting in front of my computer.
